Appraisals are still on the Raise!

The news reports are correct, home prices are going still going up, but here in the #RGV, we are seeing a leveling or plateau regarding prices and now, Appraisal valuations are catching up.


As we see in the 4th Quarter of 2021, McAllen Metro had a 10.94% increase in one year and a 43.23% rise in price in 10 years.

  What is a homestead exemption? Homestead exemptions are granted by the county appraisal district where the property is located. The exemption reduces a homeowner's property tax bill by removing part of the home's value from taxation. All Texas homeowners may receive a General Residence Homestead Exemption on the value of their property for school taxes upon application. Other taxing entities may also offer exemptions of some percentage of the home's value.
